Lucas Radebe believes Leeds United’s capture of Helder Costa from Wolverhampton Wanderers is an example of the Yorkshire club’s ambition to gain promotion to the Premier League next season.

Costa, 25, put pen to paper on an initial 12-month loan before the deal will become permanent next summer, for another three years. It means the Portugal international is set to spend four years at Elland Road.

The Mirror claim Leeds have splashed out £15million to land the former Benfica and AS Monaco star, becoming Leeds’ third most expensive signing behind Robbie Keane and Rio Ferdinand.

Leeds legend Radebe reacted to the news that Costa had agreed a move to Elland Road, and he believes it is proof that Marcelo Bielsa’s men are willing to do what it takes to return to the Premier League.

TBR’s view – Costa shows Leeds are not waiting around

Costa had been expected to join Leeds on loan, but for the player to have agreed what is basically a four-year deal at Leeds is an enormous boost for fans – and a huge coup for the club in this summer’s window.

Leeds have now secured Jack Clarke for another season, re-signed Jack Harrison from Manchester City, brought in Ben White from Brighton and signed youngster Liam McCarron from Carlisle.

It seems Victor Orta wants to get his work done quickly and he certainly has done. More signings are expected, but the marquee addition has been brought in, in the form of Costa.
