Lucas Radebe has posted his delight on Twitter after Leeds United tied down manager Marcelo Bielsa to another 12 months at Elland Road – and Radebe made a prediction for 2019-20.
Bielsa has made Leeds fans proud of their team once again, by pushing them within a whisker of promotion to the Premier League with an exciting, attacking, possession-based style of football.
Despite leading the Championship for much of the campaign, injuries caught up with Leeds as they ran out of steam and finished third – before losing to Derby County in the play-off semi-finals.
Leeds United legend Radebe, who is the inspiration for the current Leeds mascot – Lucas the cat, believes Leeds can now gain promotion to the Premier League next season after keeping Bielsa at the club.
TBR’s view
Radebe is bang on. Keeping Bielsa will be the club’s best signing this summer, and gives the Whites the best chance of mounting another promotion charge and going one better.
Bielsa has given Leeds fans reason to dream once again, providing the Whites with their best finish since they were relegated from the Premier League to the Championship in 2004.
Keeping Bielsa is crucial if Leeds are to be promoted next season.
