Lucas Moura's title race comments show Tottenham must invest to satisfy players
Tottenham are applying the pressure in the Premier League title race as their good form continues, but there are already clear indications that Daniel Levy and company may have to invest in the squad in order to keep players happy.
It comes after Brazilian attacker Lucas Moura commented on the spending of rivals Manchester City and the difficulties that it creates for the Lilywhites in comparison.
“I think if we keep this will, we have everything to go far this season,” he told ESPN Brazil as translated by Sport Witness.
“We knew it would be difficult, Manchester City made a huge investment in the last window, and are always favourites to win the title. But we know that the Premier League is very complicated, the league is very long, the intensity is very high.”

The former Paris Saint-Germain player clearly feels that Tottenham are not far off having the ability to win titles, but it is clear that with the spending of sides like Liverpool or Manchester City, it may be enough to get them over the line.
Mauricio Pochettino regularly plays down the need for further signings for his squad, but comments like this from key figures such as Moura reflect the need for the club to make a statement of intent in the transfer market, as well as with a new stadium.
Doing so sooner rather than later may be essential to the club’s hopes to prove that they are contenders for years to come, rather than a mere flash in the pan.
