Lucas Moura could be relegated back to the bench because of Erik Lamela

Lucas Moura could face a return to the substitutes’ bench, as Erik Lamela continues to shine for Tottenham Hotspur.

Lamela was on target for the club against Watford in the Carabao Cup third round clash.

It was his third goal of the season, after he also scored recently against Liverpool and Brighton.

The winger, a 2013 signing from AS Roma, has made an excellent start to the 2018/19 campaign, and some Tottenham fans believe it could finally be his year after an underwhelming stint so far.

He hasn’t actually started in the Premier League yet, but that could be about to change in light of his purple patch.

Christian Eriksen has been ruled out of Saturday’s game with Huddersfield Town, meaning he could be in line to start.

Lamela form a concern for Moura?

Lamela’s upturn in fortunes could ironically bring about the downfall of Brazilian winger Moura.

The ex-Paris Saint-Germain forward, who cost £23 million, has gotten off to a flier this season.

He has scored three goals in the Premier League so far, including a brace at Old Trafford against Manchester United, and has looked very dangerous for the north Londoners alongside and supporting Harry Kane.

Mauricio Pochettino now has a decision to make.

Does he stick with Moura and bring on Lamela later on?

Or does he drop Moura back to the bench and use Lamela in a wide role with Kane up top on his own?

Perhaps the Argentine could be really bold and unleash them together, with Heung-min Son to miss out.

It would certainly be harsh of Pochettino to discard Moura after he bided his time for a chance.
