Tottenham Hotspur Lucas Moura has insisted the dressing room atmosphere is good and that nobody has said anything about wanting to leave.
The north Londoners are on a poor run of results at the moment in the Premier League and are languishing down in 11th place in the table.
In addition to their poor form, the club have several players who are out of contract next summer, including Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen.
It has led some to accuse the trio of downing tools, but Moura has moved to reassure supporters.
He told ESPN Brasil: “Inside the locker room, there’s nothing. The locker room is normal, the atmosphere has always been very good, the group is very united.
“This matter of speculation about any player wanting to quit is hard to answer. I think it’s personal for each one. I know nothing was leaked in the locker room, nobody said anything about wanting to leave. I think the atmosphere is very good.”
TBR’s view – Those in question must do better
£80,000-a-week star Moura (Spotrac) may claim everything is fine behind the scenes, but currently the three players out of contract in the summer are playing so poorly that it looks like they really can’t wait to leave.
If they have their hearts set on big moves though, they’ll need to be giving their all for Spurs.
In the cases of Alderweireld and Eriksen, it seems clear both want to move on as both have apparently rejected offers of a new deal from the club. They may not talk about it with their teammates, but if they wanted to stay they surely would have signed up by now.
That said, all three have been at the club for a number of years now and surely owe the fans their commitment right up until the very end.
