Lucas Moura gives take on Tottenham new boy Carlos Vinicius
Excitement is growing for Tottenham Hotspur fans over Carlos Vinicius.
The Brazilian striker turned out to be the final signing of the international window for the club, with a deal for Milan Skriniar seemingly never likely in the end.
Hopes are high for Vinicius, who becomes the first striker to join the club since Fernando Llorente left in 2019.
Certainly, his goals record at Benfica last season was very encouraging – in 47 appearances last term he scored 24 goals.
Spurs winger Lucas Moura has been speaking about his new teammate and fellow countryman, and the former Paris Saint-Germain star definitely approves of the club’s business.
He told Tottenham’s official website: “I’m very happy because I have a Brazilian guy with me! I can speak Portuguese, I can joke with him about the things we speak about in Brazil. So, I’m very happy.
“Carlos is a great player, for sure. He will help us a lot. He’s a very humble guy, a very simple guy, and I’m so happy for him. He’s a very good player, a player we were missing in the squad, and for sure he will help.
“I’m so happy for him because he deserves it. He had such a good season with Benfica. Let’s help him now, and he will be good for us.”
TBR’s View – Lucas can be key for Vinicius
Vinicius may take some time to settle in at Spurs, but he has a good chance of doing that quickly with Lucas there to make him feel comfortable.
That said, at Spurs there’s also Gedson Fernandes and Eric Dier who can speak Portuguese which will make his life easier.
