Lucas Moura has dropped a clear hint that he would be open to signing a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur, but admitted that he is not sure whether the club’s hierarchy plan to offer him a new deal – in comments reported by Football London.
Lucas seemed to face an uncertain future heading into this season. The Brazilian has been a key man for much of his time in North London. However, his role changed following the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski in January.

In fact, he did not play 90 minutes in the Premier League after January. And with Richarlison arriving in the summer, some may have assumed that the future may be bleak for the 29-year-old.
Reports have claimed that Lucas could leave Tottenham. However, the forward appears to have ruled out the idea of moving on.

He even suggested that he would be open to extending his stay with Spurs. Lucas did concede that he is in the dark regarding whether the feeling is mutual.
“I will turn 30 in August. I’m getting old already, but I feel very good mentally and physically,” he told Football London. “I’m very, very happy at Tottenham. I love the club. I love the fans. I love everyone who works in the club, but of course I have a plan to go back to Brazil one day. I have at least one year in my contract, maybe two.
“I don’t know if the club will want me to sign another contract but I’m happy here. I just want to have the best season this season.”
Lucas Moura open to signing new Tottenham contract
Tottenham do not need to rush into a decision on Lucas Moura. According to Transfermarkt, he has two years remaining on his contract with the club.
He has proved to be a very decent signing for Spurs. Jose Mourinho claimed that he was ‘amazing‘. And of course, no Tottenham fan will ever forget his performance in Amsterdam in that Champions League semi-final.
However, there is a chance that he will feature a lot less this coming season. Spurs’ squad is in a much better place. And with that, Lucas does not appear to have a place in Conte’s strongest lineup.
Obviously, Tottenham are battling on several fronts. And Lucas is versatile. He has even shone at right wing-back in pre-season.
But it could prove to be a frustrating season for Lucas if Tottenham are not unlucky with injuries.
