Harry Kane failed to find the back of the net for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League again, but Lucas Moura has told BeIN Sports that people who understand football will know Kane is playing well.
Kane, 28, has now managed just one Premier League goal all season for Spurs – scoring and creating another in the 3-2 win over Newcastle. The England skipper has just one goal in 13 league outings.
Of course, Kane does have eight goals in all competitions – but the other seven have come in Cup competitions. Many suggest his lack of form is a hangover from failing to earn a move to Manchester City.
Others suggest he has been unfit – with Antonio Conte reportedly telling Kane to lose weight, and wants him more on a par with Emerson Royal’s body fat levels. Some think he has been dropping too deep.
Speaking after Kane had failed to find the back of the net in the 3-0 win over Norwich, Lucas defended Kane – stating that those who know football, understand football, will know how much he is contributing.

“He’s a top player, one of the best in the world,” Lucas said. “He’s working very, very hard. When he doesn’t score, people say bad things.
“People who know about football, see what he is doing. He drops, his work, he helps the team a lot. Some great passes, holds the ball very well. I’m sure the goals will come shortly.”
Lucas on Kane: Tottenham star contributing, but not enough for top four
Despite changing managers, injuries and international breaks forcing players into isolation – Tottenham sit in a solid position 14 games. Of course, they have a game in hand over their opponents.
That comes after the Burnley trip was postponed. Sitting in fifth on 25 points, they are ahead of both Manchester United and Arsenal – and only two behind West Ham, despite playing less games.
But if Spurs are to qualify for the Champions League and pip their opponents into fourth place, then they really need to get Kane firing. Until that happens, the Europa League is their best hope.
