Liverpool won the Premier League at a canter in the end last season.

Indeed, the Reds won the league by 10 points, and it could’ve been more had Arne Slot’s side not taken their foot off the gas at the end of the season.

It was a truly fantastic campaign from Liverpool, and many of their star players were brilliant.

Mohamed Salah was in Ballon d’Or winning form last season, while Virgil van Dijk was as imperious as ever.

Speaking to The Redmen TV, Lucas Leiva has reserved some special praise for another Liverpool star, claiming that Ryan Gravenberch was brilliant last season, much to the surprise of everyone.

Ryan Gravenberch shocked everyone last season

Lucas shared his verdict on Gravenberch and how he got on last season.

Gravenberch earned huge praise last year, and the Brazilian was impressed by how the midfielder adapted to his new, deeper role.

Lucas says nobody expected Gravenberch to be this good, but he’s certainly proven any of his doubters wrong.

“Yeah, wow. I think good players, they are able to adapt, you know, and Gravenberch is the case. You know, nobody probably would have expected that coming during the season or during the pre-season,” Leiva said.

“But he’s a different type of six, I would say, but still able to perform. And I think he played a big, big part last year. I think touch wood, he will keep fit because, you know, he played, I think, more minutes than anyone.

“But yeah, I think that’s the beauty of football. And I think the Arne could see something that maybe people from outside didn’t, but because he’s on daily basis and now he’s playing a big part. So, yeah, it’s a different style of play.

“Andre was linked with the club and, but yeah, I think Gravenberch found probably even more comfortable in that position. You know, probably game time, he would have less, maybe in the number eight position. So I think it suits everyone.”

Lucas Leiva hails Alexis Mac Allister

Gravenberch wasn’t the only Liverpool midfielder to receive praise from Lucas.

Indeed, the Brazilian was also quick to hail Alexis Mac Allister for his continued brilliance for Liverpool.

“What a player, what a fantastic player. I think he’s, he has, he’s capable of doing that link, you know, between defence and attack,” Leiva said.

“Very composed, you know, I agree, probably he doesn’t get the headlines, but I’m sure inside the team, he’s, he’s well, well respected and we can see, you know, it’s not only for Liverpool, before as well, for the national team, you know, he played, he plays a big part of the success of the Argentina. Unfortunately, you know, I have to say that, a fantastic player. I think he helps as well, the players around him to, to play better.”

“So yeah, I agree , he played a big role last year, two seasons ago as well. He, he was a fantastic signing and we just hope that he continues like that.”

Between Gravenberch and Mac Allister, Liverpool have two of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and that’s before you factor in Dominik Szoboszlai or the recent arrival of Florian Wirtz.

Liverpool are in a great position to go on and win the Premier League title again next season.
