Luca Toni has told Italian newspaper TuttoSport that he is desperate for Juventus to raid Tottenham Hotspur and sign England captain Harry Kane, as the Serie A champions look for Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner.
Kane, 26, is currently sidelined through injury but is close to a return from the hamstring injury – that required an operation. This season, the goal machine has netted 17 in 25 league and cup appearances, even with Spurs struggling.
The 45-time England international has even laid on two assists for Spurs this season, and his absence has been felt. With Spurs looking unlikely to qualify for Champions League football, Kane’s future at Tottenham is in doubt.
Juve icon Toni believes Kane would be the ideal signing for Juventus, more so than Mauro Icardi or Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus – and reckons Tottenham’s number nine could be the ideal partner alongside Ronaldo.

“Kane. A true centre-forward who fills the area like few others: he is technical, good at playing with the team and above all lethal in front of goal. And being 26, he still has room for growth,” Toni said.
“No, a little further down [on Icardi]. If Kane is 9 as an absolute value, Icardi is 8. The PSG striker is the same age as the Englishman and he is a great finisher, but he is less complete; team work. Jesus is 8.5, Haaland 7.5, Werner 7.”
TBR’s view – Can Tottenham keep Kane’s head from turning?
The lack of Champions League football, which looks likely, is a huge blow for Tottenham. Not only financially will they struggle without the benefits of being in Europe’s elite competition, but their best players may look to move.
Not only that, but signing players may prove more difficult – without the lure of the competition. Both factors may influence Kane’s thinking, with Spurs seemingly on a downward spiral. Kane is Spurs through and through, but football is a business.
