Lubo Moravcik wants Celtic to check out ‘very talented’ Czech attacker

Celtic icon Lubo Moravcik has urged the Hoops to take a look at Czech Republic international Lukas Provod this summer.

The Bhoys have a big rebuilding job on their hands in wake of a truly dismal season in which they’re set to finish a distant second to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table.

As well as being on the lookout for a new manager, Celtic will also lose Scott Brown, who’ll join Aberdeen as player-coach this summer, and other players could end up leaving.

Moravcik acknowledged that it may be difficult for the likes of Celtic and Rangers to find good quality players at decent praises, and feels they should look further afield.

“It is very hard for the big Scottish clubs like Celtic and Rangers now to find a player for reasonable money and with good quality,” he told the Celtic Huddle podcast, as transcribed by the Daily Record.

“There’s big competition for players now, especially against the English teams and big European teams.

“Maybe they should go to countries where football is not very rich and find the players there, but it’s a difficult job, to be honest.

“You saw Slavia Prague this season in the Europa League, their players aren’t too expensive, but they are very good.

“For example, a player like Lukas Provod. He played for a small club last season, moved to Slavia and made big, big progress.

“He’s a very talented player, still young, good physically, has a good left foot. It would be very interesting to see a player like that. That is maybe the way to go.”

Great shout by Moravcik – Provod is just 24 and has come a long way in a short space of time, enjoying a superb maiden season for Slavia.

In 27 Fortuna Liga games, he has scored three goals and registered nine assists, as well as scoring twice in 10 Europa League games.

English side West Ham struck gold by signing two Slavia players who have gone on to shine – Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek – and Celtic should certainly look at that market too.
