Lovro Majer has told Sportske Novosti that he is happy to focus on playing football with Dinamo Zagreb at this point in his career, amid reported interest from Leeds United and some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Majer, 22, has starred for Dinamo Zagreb since breaking into the first team and becoming one of the first names on the team sheet in central midfield. Now a fully-fledged Croatia international, Majer has clocked up 64 senior outings.

In that time, Majer has had a hand in 34 goals – scoring 18 and creating 16. That form saw clubs become interested, with CalcioMercato claiming Leeds are battling Dortmund, Fiorentina, Valencia and Sevilla are all interested.

Now, Majer has responded to questions on his future – with Sportska Centrala suggesting he could be available for £9million. He stated that he just wants to play football and is happy doing so with Dinamo Zagreb, but refused to rule out a move.

“I don’t burden myself too much. [Speculation] will always be written and spoken about when you play well. I just need to play my football and not deal with it,” Majer said. “I feel really good. I am full of confidence and ready. I enjoy every game.”

TBR’s view – Majer is just what Leeds need

Leeds were linked with a whole host of attacking midfielders in the summer, as they looked to fill the gap alongside Mateusz Klich. Michael Cuisance, Rodrigo De Paul, Todd Cantwell, Louie Sibley, Ruslan Malinovskyi and more were all linked.

Majer is another name to add to that list – but the different between Majer and the rest is that he would be available for a much smaller fee. At £9million, he is a low-risk, but potentially huge-reward signing – a no-brainer for Victor Orta.
