Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Eduardo Camavinga has been praised by Mario Melchiot and tipped to get the chance to move to the next level soon enough (Goal.com).

According to a report by Spanish outlet Sport in mid-March, Jose Mourinho’s Spurs and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are just two of the clubs keen on the Rennes midfielder.

However, as well as Spurs and Liverpool, Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also said to be eager to sign the 17-year-old.

Indeed, Los Blancos are reportedly hoping to make an offer in the next few weeks, according to RMC Sport, as translated by GFFN.

Despite his young age, Camavinga has already clocked 43 appearances for Rennes, including 36 this season.

His prodigious performances in midfield have helped Rennes qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history, finishing the curtailed Ligue 1 season in third place.

Former Ajax, Chelsea and Rennes ace Melchiot praised the young midfielder, admitting he’s unsure whether Rennes will be able to keep hold of him after next season.

“He is very young but I have watched him a few times and I like him as a player,” the Dutchman told Goal.com.

“He is gifted, he sees things, he is comfortable on the ball and dribbles in the middle of the park very well.

“The technical level in Ligue 1 is very high and Rennes is obviously a good place for him right now. He is protected.

“But I don’t know if Rennes can keep hold of him beyond next season. I think he has a lot of fire in him and I expect him to keep progressing. And I think there will soon come a time when he is offered the chance to go to another level.”

TBR View:

Camavinga burst into the world football spotlight with a stunning performance against Paris Saint-Germain back in August, and is already a France Under-21 international.

The composed, skilful box-to-box midfield player looks to have a huge future ahead of him, just like Rennes alumni Sylvain Wiltord, Yann M’Vila and Ousmane Dembele.

Perhaps this summer might be a stretch, given the financial uncertainty within the football industry, but could Spurs get their hands on Camavinga in, say the next year or so?

If Real fail with their reported bid this summer and he stays – not unlikely given the club, owned by billionare Francois-Henri Pinault, doesn’t seem to have any money issues – then they could have a chance further down the line.
