'Lost all respect for him': Some Liverpool fans not happy with what Jamie Carragher has said

A number of Liverpool fans have reacted to Jamie Carragher saying he’s been more impressed by Ruben Dias than by Reds star Virgil van Dijk.

The 29-year-old Dutchman has been nothing short of sensational for Liverpool since arriving at Anfield back in 2017.

Van Dijk has helped Jurgen Klopp’s charges win the Champions League, the Premier League, the UEFA Supercup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Manchester City’s Dias has also been impressive since making the switch from Benfica last summer in a reported £65million deal.

Celtic fans left short-changed by Sky Sports once again

He has made 46 appearances to date for City and has already lifted the League Cup and is on the verge of getting his hands on the Premier League title.

Dias also put in an impressive performance to help his team overcome PSG in the Champions League semi-final second leg on Tuesday night.

Carragher was blown away by the Portuguese’s display, telling CBS Sports – via Metro: “I love him.

“I think he’s been the best player in the Premier League this season, I really do believe that.”

Asked whether Dias can reach the level of Van Dijk, Carragher replied: “Without a doubt.

“I think in his first season that he has produced at Man City, I think he’s at that level.

“What I would say is that Van Dijk has been blessed with physical attributes that Dias hasn’t so in some ways I’m more impressed with Dias.

“When you watch Van Dijk, it’s like watching a Rolls-Royce, you just think the way he moves.

“Most players don’t have that and Dias probably hasn’t got that so probably has to concentrate more and be side on constantly.”

But some Liverpool fans weren’t best pleased to see an Anfield legend like Carragher take the opposing side in the battle of the Premier League’s two standout centre-backs.
