Besiktas may decide to keep Liverpool outcast Loris Karius after all, despite previous reports suggesting that was not the case.
Sabah reported earlier this year that Karius, along with most of the current Besiktas loanees, would not be signed permanently at the end of the current season.
The Turkish side have a deal in place to sign the German goalkeeper for £7.25 million at the end of his current loan spell, as reported by the Liverpool Echo. But it seemed Besiktas were ready to look for other options and allow Karius to return to Liverpool, where he would again be likely to try and find a new team.
However, according to a report from Fotospor this week, Besiktas may be having a change of heart. It comes from Karius’ recent attitude amid the global health crisis.

Unlike some of the club’s other foreign players, who demanded to return home, Karius was happy to remain in Istanbul. He also volunteered to forego a large portion of wages Besiktas are set to pay for him whilst he is hopeful of convincing Liverpool into arranging a free transfer switch, rather than the initially agreed £7.25m fee.
With his excellent attitude taken into account the club president, Ahmet Nur Cebi, is said to be ‘warm’ to the German and Besiktas are now potentially hopeful of concluding some sort of deal with Liverpool regarding Karius’ permanent stay.
The German joined Liverpool from Mainz in 2016 for a reported (Telegraph) £4.75 million. He struggled for consistency during his time at Anfield and his last game for the club came in the horror-show display against Real Madrid in the 2018 Champions League final.
Liverpool went on to break the world record for a goalkeeper transfer that summer, signing Alisson from Roma, which led to Karius’ initial two-year loan deal at Besiktas.
