Tottenham Hotspur fell to their fourth defeat in five Premier League games on Thursday night.

Ange Postecoglou‘s Spurs were hoping to get back to winning ways against West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham picked up a point at Manchester City last weekend and, with Cristian Romero back in the starting XI, there was certainly more optimism around this fixture.

Indeed, Romero was the player who got the scoring underway for Spurs, heading in from Pedro Porro’s cross in the 11th minute of the match.

However, that’s as good as it got for Tottenham on the night, as the Hammers made the most of some Spurs defensive errors to turn the game around.

Jarrod Bowen notched his seventh away league goal in as many games in the 52nd minute, following a mix-up between Romero and Ben Davies.

And in the 74th minute, James Ward-Prowse pounced on a defensive error from Destiny Udogie to slot home after his initial shot had come off the post.

The defeat means Tottenham are winless since October, their last triumph coming away at Crystal Palace late on in the month.

Since then, Spurs have lost to Chelsea, Wolves, Aston Villa and now West Ham, along with the draw at the Etihad.

Former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar took to X with a dig at Postecoglou in wake of the defeat.

“Best not ask Ange to walk your dog, he can’t hold a lead,” he quipped.

It just goes to show how quickly – a matter of weeks – things can turn around in football.

Up until October, Postecoglou was royalty at N17 and could do no wrong. Even after the Chelsea defeat, he was winning plaudits for sticking to his principles.

However, with Tottenham’s form having completely deserted them, the jokes and the jeers are now sadly starting to get louder.

That said, Spurs are still in the midst of an injury crisis, the kind that would’ve probably derailed even the likes of Manchester City.

We know Liverpool have seen a couple of seasons derailed in such a manner in recent years. It’s just one of them things.
