‘Looks special’: Some Manchester City fans hail their 18-year-old prospect’s display
Manchester City finished pre-season with a victory over Blackpool on Tuesday – and some of their fans on Twitter were hailing the performance of young prospect Samuel Edozie.
Man City beat newly-promoted Championship club Blackpool 4-1 in the final game of their pre-season. Pep Guardiola’s side now turn their attention to this weekend’s FA Community Shield final against Leicester City.
Ilkay Gundogan (two) and Riyad Mahrez were both on the scoresheet at the club’s academy stadium. However, City’s opening goalscorer was an academy talent.
Edozie, who’s been on the Man City books since 2019, scored inside three minutes again Blackpool with a nice chipped finish.
The 18-year-old has certainly left his mark in pre-season by scoring in three consecutive matches, so it’ll be interesting to see if Guardiola looks to include him at the weekend.
He’s yet to make his first-team debut, but is a talented attacker with big potential.
Samuel Edozie tipped to be another Man City breakout star
A selection of Man City supporters on social media loved what they saw from Edozie yesterday.
The London-born teenager is a massive goal threat as a left-winger with his pace, dribbling and directness. Unfortunately, breaking into the first team at the Etihad Stadium as a winger has to be one of the toughest assignments around right now.
Phil Foden is the shining example though to any player in the academy that Guardiola will give you the opportunity if you’re good enough.
