'Looking back': Ange Postecoglou shares the most annoying thing about Celtic's loss to Real Madrid
The European champions visited Parkhead on the opening night of this season’s Champions League, on a night which shows the progress of the Bhoys under Postecoglou.
They went toe-to-toe with Madrid for almost the first hour, but when they conceded on 56 minutes, it was followed by another goal just four minutes later.
It was 3-0 in the 77th minute and as per the BBC, Postecoglou has said he is annoyed his side could not hang on for longer at 1-0.
Postecoglou reflects on Celtic loss to Real Madrid
He said: “In the context of who we were playing against, I understand that you are playing against one of the best teams in the world at the moment, maybe the best.
“And for us to be able to match them by playing our football was encouraging.
“Looking back, the disappointing thing was, when we conceded, we conceded again quickly. There was no need to. If we had hung in the game, there’s always the chance to create again.
“At this level, 60 minutes is never going to be enough. You have to make sure you see the game out and be resilient when you need to be.”
Celtic were never going to cower in front of Carlo Ancelotti’s men and they almost took the lead through Callum McGregor.
If that shot – which came back off the post – had gone in, then who knows how the game might have played out?
But Postecoglou will want his side to go for the full 90 minutes tonight against Shakhtar Donetsk as they go in search of their first Champions League points of the season.
