'Look out': Arsenal backed to swoop for 'incredible' £30m striker likened to Lukas Podolski
Dean Jones has urged Arsenal fans to “look out” for interest from the Gunners in Portugal international Goncalo Ramos.
With the January transfer window fast approaching, Arsenal may well look at bolstering their attacking ranks.
The Gunners were looking for a new winger late on in the summer window, before turning their attentions to a new midfielder.
In the end, Arsenal didn’t manage to sign anyone on deadline day, so they could well try again next month.
In addition, Gabriel Jesus’ injury means the Gunners are likely to focus on attacking reinforcements.
And according to Jones, Ramos could be in the sights of Arsenal.
“Man-of-the-moment Goncalo Ramos looks a golden ticket that could move anywhere from Benfica,” he wrote on GiveMeSport.
“But he has a big release clause and holds more value than ever.
“Look out for interest from Leeds, Southampton and Wolves but also Newcastle, Arsenal and Man United.”
Back in August, 90Min reported that Ramos had a £30million price tag.
However, his release clause apparently stands at €120million (around £103million).
And on the back of a great World Cup in Qatar, his valuation could have risen significantly.
‘What an incredible game’
Ramos, who can play at centre-forward and No. 10, is one of the breakthrough stars of the 2022 World Cup.
The 21-year-old scored a hat-trick and also got an assist in Portugal’s 6-1 hammering of Switzerland in the last 16.
Germany legend Bastian Schweinsteiger compared Ramos to former Arsenal ace Lukas Podolski on Twitter.
Ramos is a top talent who looks like he has a great future in the game.
However, it remains to be seen whether Benfica will settle for £30million or whether they’ll up their price tag considerably.
And Arsenal could also have strong competition for Ramos’ services if they do decide to make an approach.
Maybe one for the summer?
