‘Look how he’s emerging’…Martin Keown stunned by what he’s seen from Arsenal 24-year-old this season

Arsenal continued their march towards Premier League glory today as they quickly took the lead against Brentford at The Emirates.

With Man City and Liverpool facing off tomorrow it was always going to be imperative that Arsenal came out on top against Thomas Frank’s side. And they’re on course to do just that.

Once again, the in-form Declan Rice got himself a goal as he continued his own fine run of form. The former West Ham midfielder is really coming into his own this season.

And Rice seemed to prove the point of Martin Keown as well, who had spoken to AFTV about Rice before the game and admitted that nobody saw it coming in terms of how effective Rice would be further forward.

“Jorginho’s come in, that’s been a really good addition. We’re seeing Declan Rice now, look how he’s emerging in the final third. Who would have thought that when he came from West Ham? We all saw him as a six, just sitting in front of the back four. But he’s got a lot more under the bonnet and it’s the manager who finds that,” Keown said.

Declan Rice is getting better and better

Arsenal might have had to break their transfer record to buy Declan Rice but in terms of players who have made a difference so quickly, it’s hard to find a better example.

Rice has simply been superb for the Gunners and with each passing week he just seems to be getting better and better. The fact he now scores goals as well, is just a massive added bonus for Arsenal.

As Keown says, nobody expected Rice to be so good in the final third and Arteta does deserve some credit for it.

At the moment, there are better in world football never mind just the Premier League. If Rice can continue like this, then title race is going down the wire, without question.
