Tottenham threw away the chance to take a big three points today as Jarrad Branthwaite scored late to rescue a point for Everton.
Spurs had enough of the ball in and around the Everton box to win the game easily but once again failed to capitalise, despite being ahead twice.
In the end, Everton fans will argue a point was a good result as they themselves had some good moments on the break which were snuffed out.
Key to snuffing those moments out for Tottenham was the way Dutch defender Micky van de Ven read the situation and used his pace to get back.

And watching on for TNT Sports on co-commentary, Ally McCoist could not get over just how fast Van de Ven was.
“He is lightning quick that fella because Calvert-Lewin can move as well. He loves a tackle as well doesn’t he look at that,” McCoist said.
Van de Ven’s pace is remarkable
The snippet here from McCoist was just one of the occasions the former Scotland striker gave Van de Ven praise.
There was a moment in the second half where Jack Harrison raced through and McCoist was impressed as Van de Ven steamed back to win the ball and make sure Harrison had no chance of a strike at goal.
Clearly, Tottenham need to be trying to keep clean sheets or they’ll never win games.
However, the signing of Van de Ven has been a huge one and he justified the praised he’d got from Cristian Romero with another performance that showed his class.
As McCoist says, the pace the Dutchman shows is quite ridiculous at times and there can’t be many in Europe who are as fast over the ground as Van de Ven.
