Aston Villa host Nottingham Forest tonight in the Championship and it should be a closely contested encounter.
Both sides are pushing for promotion this season and rejuvenated Aston Villa will be looking to continue their fine form under new boss Dean Smith.
But Nottingham Forest are a dangerous side and Aston Villa’s players will have to win their personal battles all over the pitch.
One duel that might worry Aston Villa fans ahead of tonight is the battle between Joe Lolley and Neil Taylor.
Nottingham Forest winger Lolley is in excellent form and he will aim to terrorise Taylor, whose defensive weaknesses have been exposed on several occasions this season.
Even last weekend against Birmingham City, Connor Mahoney skipped past the Welshman with ease, although his lack of end product failed to hurt Aston Villa.
Lolley will not be so forgiving once he beats his marker. The 26-year-old has scored six goals and registered two assists this season.
And with ex-Villan Lewis Grabban in the middle, Aston Villa will be wary of Forest’s goal threat.
At the weekend, Aitor Karanka moved Lolley from the left to the right flank so that he could target Eric Lichaj.
Tonight, the Spaniard is likely to identify Taylor as the weak link and if Lolley is on form tonight, this could be a recipe for disaster for Aston Villa.
