Loaning Traore back to Boro would make him biggest transfer mistake of Fosun era

When Wolves broke their transfer record to sign Adama Traore from Middlesbrough during the summer, it was viewed as yet another sign of their grand ambitions.

But the livewire winger has started just two games at Molineux, which has encouraged Boro to enquire about the possibility of bringing him back to the north east on loan for the rest of the season, according to TeamTalk.

Nuno Santo tried to ease his new man into the season but opportunities have not followed after that period of early patience, even as the Old Gold went through a six-game winless run recently.

It would be a surprise if Wolves did allow Traore to leave, but it would be an admission that their huge outlay on the wideman has not worked out.

Given the scale of the transfer fee, that would make Traore the most expensive and biggest bust in the market during the Fosun era at Molineux.

That is of course testament to the huge amount of successes that have come through the door; there are no guarantees in transfer terms, no matter how much money is involved.

But if a club record signing leaves the club on loan within months of arriving, it cannot be categorised as anything other than a transfer failure on a scale Fosun have not yet experienced at Molineux.
