Leeds United icon Jermaine Beckford has waxed lyrical about Jamie Vardy’s display as Marcelo Bielsa’s charges were heavily beaten by Leicester at Elland Road.
The Whites hosted the Foxes hoping to build on the momentum from the superb 3-0 win over Aston Villa, but instead found themselves on the receiving end of a 4-1 defeat.
Vardy was instrumental in the match, playing a part in Leicester’s opening three goals including getting on the scoresheet to restore his side’s two-goal lead.

The 33-year-old, who won the Premier League’s Golden Boot award last season, now has eight goals and one assist from just seven games in all competitions.
Beckford was blown away by the £140,000-a-week man’s efforts, telling BBC Sport (22:14): “Jamie Vardy has got better with age, he doesn’t waste energy running into the corner flags. He runs into the 18-yard-box.
“He’s still very sharp, he’s got loads of energy, he doesn’t give the defenders a second’s rest.
“It’s easy as a centre forward to drift in and out of games, running into channels and trying to help everyone else but the way he moves around, he just doesn’t stand still. He’s getting even better and even wiser.”
TBR View:
As outfield players progress into their mid-30s, they’re often considered to be in the twilight of their careers and sometimes even deemed to be on the wane, but this is definitely not the case with Vardy, who as Beckford said, is getting better with age.
The England international put Leeds to the sword last night, earning plaudits from an Elland Road icon who, as a former striker, knows a superb sharpshooter when he sees one, and he’s certainly doing things right to get his hands on another Golden Boot trophy.
