Giovani Lo Celso wants to play under his countryman Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham next season, according to Sky Sports News.

They report that despite the fact the 23-year-old has only just made his loan deal with the Spanish club permanent by leaving Paris Saint-Germain, the Argentine wants to move to Spurs this summer.

Fellow Argentine Pochettino is credited as being a major part of that and the report also says that Spurs are in talks with Betis and are hopeful that a deal can be done.

Apparently, Lo Celso has an £88 million release clause in his Betis contract and the La Liga side will hold out for a fee as close to that as they can get.

The impact of Pochettino cannot be overstated. He is the reason many of Tottenham’s star turns remain at the club despite knowing they could get more money elsewhere and was also the key to their Champions League run.

His positivity runs through the whole club and was strong enough to withstand the injury crisis the club suffered this term, to engineer a top four finish and that final clash in Madrid.

And Lo Celso looks to have been seduced in the same way – the opportunity to play under a manager like Pochettino has turned his head.
