Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’ best days are behind him.

The World Cup winner produced another mistake on Wednesday as Kieran Trippier scored an own goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Englishman received a lot of the blame but Lloris rushed out towards the ball and the full-back played a pass beyond him, expecting him to have stopped rushing.

It was a gift for the home side to make the scoreline 2-0, and it all but writes off Tottenham’s Premier League title challenge for 2018/19.

It was another moment to forget for Lloris, who has been fiercely criticised at times this season and in recent years.

Time to move on?

Lloris has been outstanding at times for Tottenham since his arrival at the club from Lyon in 2012.

Certainly during his first few seasons the stopper was consistent and reliable between the sticks.

Recently though, Lloris has produced a number of errors for both club and country, suggesting that his best years are now behind him.

He has had a fine career, but Spurs need someone with better decision-making.

Tottenham are a great side but arguably now have the weakest goalkeeper of the so-called ‘big six’.

The north Londoners can’t hope to land a league title if their hard work in attack and midfield is undone by an error-prone goalkeeper.
