Jermaine Beckford says one Leeds player was 'excellent' in 1-0 win over Watford
Leeds United icon Jermaine Beckford has praised Raphinha’s display in Saturday’s Premier League win over Watford.
The Whites finally got their first victory of the league campaign after three draws and three defeats.
Diego Llorente’s goal in the 18th minute proved the difference between the two sides.
The Spaniard, back from a hamstring injury he picked up against Liverpool, poked home from close range after a scramble from a corner kick.
Leeds could’ve even won by multiple goals, mustering a staggering 20 chances, though only four were on target.
And Watford did have the ball in the back of the net at one point when Illan Meslier dropped the ball and it deflected in off Christian Kabasele.
However, it was ruled out due to a foul in the build-up.
Leeds have a “livewire” in their ranks
Once again, Raphinha dazzled for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, taking on opposition players with little effort and constantly trying to find Rodrigo with long-range passes.
Beckford, speaking on BBC Final Score, was impressed with the Brazilian’s latest heroics.
“Raphinha has been excellent,” Beckford said (16:08). “Every time he picks the ball up he looks like a livewire.”
Leeds fans were also delighted with the 24-year-old’s efforts:
That was a dominant half. Total control. However. The lack of a killer second/third still really worries me. Raphinha on fire. #LUFC— Insert Name Here (@twohandsgaz) October 2, 2021
James and Firpo class that half… Raphinha is on another planet. Lets get the 2nd goal and put it to bed before the hour mark 🙌🏻 #lufc— Terry 🇬🇮 (@eltel89) October 2, 2021

Raphinha MOTM for me, but having llorente back has helped, Dan James had his weetabix this morning and Firpo has been decent too. Noone has really stood out as having a bad performance icl. Even Roberts hasnt been bad since coming on #LUFC— Max 🐢 (@LUFC_Max5) October 2, 2021
Brilliant first half. Not as good in the second. Made that far harder work than it should have been and got lucky with the disallowed goal. But we needed the win and we got one. Raphinha and Shackleton both outstanding. I can breathe now 😂 #lufc— Mark Hollings (@markydh) October 2, 2021
After the international break, Leeds are next in action on Saturday 16 October, with a trip to Southampton.
