Liverpool’s Nicolas Tagliafico interest is bad news for promising youngster Adam Lewis

Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico is attracting plenty of interest and Liverpool are the latest club to enter the hunt, as per Don Balon.

This report adds that Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are keen on Tagliafico, who helped Ajax dump Real Madrid out of the Champions League last week.

The 26-year-old has been in impressive form all season for Ajax, having joined the Dutch heavyweights back in January 2018.

And now he could earn a move to either the Premier League or La Liga, with Liverpool among the clubs pondering a bid.

The Argentina international would provide competition for Andrew Robertson but it would be disappointing news for Adam Lewis.

With Alberto Moreno’s contract expiring and unlikely to be renewed, Lewis would have been eyeing that back-up left-back spot at Liverpool.

The 19-year-old has consistently been one of the academy’s best players over the past two seasons and he recently signed a new long-term deal.

His next step is to break into the first-team and he would have been eyeing a rapid rise to stardom, akin to that of right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

But if Tagliafico comes in, that forces Lewis further down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.

The England youth international would therefore have to seek a loan exit to play senior football or continue plying his trade in the under-23 team.

Tagliafico is a talented player but left-back does not appear to be a priority for Liverpool.
