Liverpool's best bits of the season so far in pictures

Liverpool have enjoyed a fine start to the season in Jurgen Klopp’s first full campaign in charge, with many ups and downs seeing them sit level on points at the top of the table with nine games played. Summer additions such as Sadio Mane, Georgino Wijnaldum and Joel Matip have shone as the Reds have fallen to defeat just once in all competitions.

Having already faced many of the top competition, such as Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United, it has not been plain sailing for the German and his team in the opening weeks of the season, with a number of key players also suffering injuries. As he now sees his team assemble fully fit for perhaps the first time since his arrival at Anfield, it may just be a sign of things to come.

Klopp’s 4-3-3 system has been used to devastating effect, with Roberto Firmino excelling in his new role as a central striker, supported on either flank by two of the Premier League’s most deadly attackers in the form of Mane and Phillipe Coutinho. Whilst clean sheets have been harder to come by, the introduction of Loris Karius as number one will take time.

With a manager of the month award already pocketed by Klopp, this season shows all the hallmarks of being one of the club’s most successful campaigns in decades as they look to mount a title challenge which can go one step beyond the 2013/14 campaign which came so close to a first ever Premier League title.
