Liverpool youngster Ki-Jana Hoever has claimed he wants to be playing senior football next season and explained he would be prepared to go out on loan to get just that.
The teenage defender played in three first-team games for the Reds during the 2019/20 season, which included his first senior goal against MK Dons in the League Cup.
He’s a versatile player that has slotted in at both centre-back and right-back already during his brief senior minutes, but the Dutchman’s long-term position could be in the heart of defence.
Hoever, 18, is one of several talented individuals coming through the youth ranks at Anfield, but breaking into the XI of the reigning Premier League champions is a very sizeable task.
He has claimed that he’s set himself the goal of more first-team chances in the upcoming campaign and has opened the door for a possible loan to achieve it.
“I’d like to play at the highest level possible as many games as possible,” Hoever told Bleacher Report when asked his goals for next season.
“I know I’m ready to play men’s football. No more youth anymore. I’d like to do the big work now. If I go on loan, 30 games. If I stay at Liverpool, maybe more like 10 games.”

TRB’s View – Hoever loan is a no-brainer
Liverpool should definitely heed Hoever’s advice by allowing him to play more regularly next season and the best way to achieve that is a temporary spell out on loan.
Despite showing his potential at right-back, he find himself behind both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Neco Williams for the full-back area going into next year.
His path into the centre-back position looks blocked too, so they should make him available for loan and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see teams queue up for the rising Liverpool talent.
The physical Championship could be an ideal division for him to grow during the course of the season and they just need to find the right suitors.
