Liverpool youngster Adam Lewis hails senior star James Milner

Liverpool youngster Adam Lewis has revealed James Milner is one of his top role models at Melwood.

The full-back was speaking with Scouted Football about life at Anfield and his hopes for the future amongst other things.

Lewis is dreaming of making his competitive debut for the club, which might have come against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup, only for Jurgen Klopp to select Milner at left-back instead on a night where several youngsters were given chances to impress.

Just days later, Lewis sustained an unfortunate cruciate knee injury which will prolong his wait for his senior debut.

Lewis does not begrudge Milner featuring out of position against MK Dons, and fully respects the 33-year-old’s unrivalled professionalism.

He said: “When I go in the gym at Melwood, he’s always there on his own. He doesn’t need anyone to help him, he just cracks on with it.

“When a young kid comes in, that’s what you’ve got to look at. If you’re eating the right food and doing what people are telling you to do, then you’ll have a career like him.”

It is remarkable to see him still having so much impact at a top club, and his appearance record of 704 in his career to date (Transfermarkt) is absolutely amazing.

With him around Melwood setting an example, Liverpool’s array of talented youngster’s are bound to benefit.
