Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri has withdrawn from the Switzerland squad with a groin injury, according to Sky Sports News.

The Reds performer had been called up for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Georgia and Denmark over the next week.

The 27-year-old has scored six goals for Jurgen Klopp’s team this season, although he hasn’t started since late January.

Klopp and his team face Tottenham when domestic action resumes and he will surely hope to have Shaqiri available for that one.

Shaqiri signed for Liverpool during the summer and it is fair to say he hasn’t seen as much action as he would have liked.

He has impressed the Reds faithful with his all-action displays, but they have largely been from the bench.
