Liverpool would not gain a great deal by allowing Lallana to leave in January

Adam Lallana provides depth and versatility to a squad that is still battling for success on multiple fronts which outweighs the potential transfer funds that could be recouped by selling him in January.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has been the subject of interest from Fenerbahce, according to Turkish outlet Fotomac.

The former Southampton captain has had his injury problems in recent times, which has contributed to a loss of form which, married with the heavy investment Jurgen Klopp made in the midfield area during the summer, has led to him slipping far down the Anfield pecking order.

The Reds are of course on a title charge but Lallana has played little part and a familiar face – Damien Comolli – is Sporting Director with the Turkish giants and is reportedly looking to make a swoop on his old club.

There may be a temptation for Klopp to offload a player who is not seeing an awful lot of gametime right now, but he should keep hold of Lallana this month.

It’s a tough ask to challenge on multiple fronts and Klopp’s preference for rotating his midfielders to keep their energy up necessitates having numbers in the engine room.

Lallana could well come in handy later on in the season and the prospect of raising a relatively meagre amount to at to their transfer kitty in a market where there is seldom much value around anyway should not convince Klopp to part with a popular, experienced, classy player, who can add depth to a squad that is not exactly jam-packed.
