Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo must end his Ligue 1 loan and return to the Championship in January

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo has ended the first half of the 2018/19 league season goalless and without an assist during his time on loan at Reims in Ligue 1.

With Ojo struggling in France, Liverpool must cut short his loan deal and offer the winger to Championship clubs in January.

In 11 league appearances for Reims, Ojo has started just three times and played under 400 total minutes.

The 21-year-old has played a part in a grand total of zero goals and has only been on the pitch in a winning effort on one occasion — a two minute cameo against Strasbourg.

It is clear that a lack of form and playing time is impeding Ojo’s progress, and his parent club must act to return the winger to the level where he has found the most success: the Championship.

In 50 total Championship matches while on loan at Wigan, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Fulham, Ojo has bagged six goals and offered five assists.

Last season at Fulham, Ojo chipped in with a productive first half of the season when scoring four and assisting two, yet the Englishman fell out of favour in the spring.

Nevertheless, Sheyi Ojo’s best first team form has come in the Championship, and Liverpool would do well to terminate his Reims loan and offer the winger to English second division clubs for the second half of the season.
