Liverpool will struggle to sell Rangers loanee Kent unless they lower £12m asking price

Liverpool want at least £12m from any potential suitor that wants to buy Ryan Kent this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Kent has impressed this season on loan at Steven Gerrard’s Rangers but Jurgen Klopp has apparently slapped an eight-figure asking price on the Englishman’s head that may price out the Gers.

That opens the door to him potentially making a move to the Premier League, but having only impressed in Scottish football and the Championship thus far, will a club take a punt?

But can Kent really prove himself to be worth that money? £12m or more is a substantial fee for somebody with Kent’s relatively limited experience.

On the face of it, it seemed like the best course of action would be for Klopp to do Gerrard a favour and let him buy Kent for a reasonable price.

That would allow Kent to continue his development and get a player off the wagebill who seems to be behind the likes of Harry Wilson and Ben Woodburn in the pecking order.

But the Reds want more money for the Englishman and that may end up pricing him out of a move – which wouldn’t suit anyone.
