Liverpool will reportedly throw teenager Harvey Elliott straight into first team squad

Liverpool are expected to sign Fulham starlet Harvey Elliott and want to throw him straight into their first-team plans, according to the Liverpool Echo.

They report that Jurgen Klopp is ready to let Elliott bypass the Under 18 and the Under 23 sides as soon as he completes his projected move from Craven Cottage.

That underlines just how good the German thinks the young Englishman is, after he became the Premier League’s youngest ever player last season.

The theory behind the move is apparently that Elliott would learn more from being around the Champions League winners rather than players of his own age.

Elliott is one of the hottest talents in world football and of course there are plenty of stories about teenagers coming in and bursting onto the scene as raw teenagers.

Jurgen Klopp doesn’t need to take that gamble yet – such is the quality of his squad – but if Elliott were to impress in pre-season, there’s no reason why he wouldn’t get first team opportunities.

But it’s all about Elliott’s development – there are still plenty of years ahead of him to get to the level required to get into the first team, but even getting him through the door in the first place is a coup.
