Three keys towards Liverpool defeating Watford in the Premier League

The Reds will hope to earn a positive result and continue on their assault to land their first title in 29 years.

Liverpool return to home comforts this evening when Watford arrive at Anfield in the Premier League.

The Reds will be looking to get back to winning ways after drawing 0-0 with Manchester United at the weekend.

Javi Gracia’s side will represent a stern test for Jurgen Klopp’s outfit, however, and have European ambitions of their own.

Ahead of an intriguing game on Merseyside, we look at three keys towards Liverpool claiming all three points…

Calm the nerves

The atmosphere inside Anfield of late has been somewhat subdued as the business end of the season gets into full swing.

An early Liverpool goal would ease those nerves somewhat and get the stadium rocking once more.

There is still a lot of football left to be played and the club’s supporters would be wise to remain calm in their quest for a first Premier League title.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was an unused substitute in the draw with Manchester United and he could return against Watford.

The England man is a real star for the future and his energy down the right-hand side could be a useful attribute.

Roberto Firmino departed injured on Sunday and Daniel Sturridge or Xherdan Shaqiri might get the chance to impress.

At this stage of the campaign, it is about keeping things fresh.

The Reds face Everton on Sunday and one eye will perhaps be on that fixture.

Maintain solidity

It is now four games since Liverpool last conceded a goal in all competitions and another clean sheet would be ideal this evening.

Joel Matip played alongside Virgil van Dijk on Sunday and he should retain his place for the game with Watford.

In comparison to previous years, Liverpool have looked solid at the back this season.

The watertight defensive unit is desperately close to landing the club a first Premier League title and they can ill-afford any more hiccups now.
