Liverpool want 'phenomenal' £60,000-a-week star and he could raise the Anfield roof - TBR View
Liverpool are eyeing a summer move for West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen and it’s fair to say there are reasons to be cheerful for their supporters.
The Reds endured a woeful campaign during 2020/21. It may sound strange to say that when they finished third, but they relinquished their title with a whimper.
A severe injury crisis robbed them of a fair title challenge. As a result, Jurgen Klopp will hope to roar back with a vengeance this season.
Bowen could prove to be a masterstroke by transfer guru Michael Edwards and Klopp, with the forward fitting the Liverpool model perfectly.
The 23-year-old is at a lovely age. He has his best years ahead of him, yet he also boasts 18 months of Premier League football under his belt.
Since swapping Hull for London, he’s shone and the £20 million West Ham paid for him seems like a steal.
In 53 games for the Hammers, he has scored nine goals and claimed 10 assists. Those numbers might not scream a Liverpool signing but his game is about more than goal contributions.
One of Liverpool’s big problems last year was squad depth. Bowen can play anywhere across the front three, boasting pace and skill in abundance.
Would Bowen be useful for Liverpool?
The youngster earns £60,000-a-week at the London Stadium and West Ham will likely fancy a profit on their £20 million.
Bowen perhaps wouldn’t make Liverpool fans leap out of their seats immediately. Much like Diogo Jota though, he has the potential to prove his critics wrong.
During a game last season, Matt Le Tissier was impressed with Bowen. He called the player ‘phenomenal’ during a Soccer Saturday episode broadcast on Sky Sports; 7/3; 17:19)
Liverpool won’t add a star player this summer, instead, they’ll prefer a shrewd stance.
Bowen is yet to reach his prime and still has bags of developing to do. Klopp has a reputation for squeezing every inch of talent out of his player and that could benefit the forward.
The youngster has the potential to dazzle the Anfield faithful and supporters should give him a chance if he checks in on Merseyside.
