'What a player': Klopp says one Tottenham player is a perfect fit for Conte's tactics
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has waxed lyrical about Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane ahead of Saturday’s clash.
The Reds host Spurs at Anfield in a 7:45pm kickoff in which the stakes are extremely high for both sides.
Liverpool remain well in contention for the Premier League title, with Manchester City just one point in front.
Meanwhile, Antonio Conte’s Spurs are in a tight race of their own, for a place in the top four.
Tottenham’s north London rivals Arsenal are currently in fourth place, two points above Spurs.
Liverpool and Tottenham play the day before City and the Gunners, so they’ll want to put the pressure on their rivals.
The match will also see two of the best front lines in the world lock horns.
Klopp can call upon Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.
Meanwhile, Conte has Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski in his ranks.
“Speed like crazy”
At his pre-match press conference, Klopp talked up Tottenham’s quality and how difficult a game he think it’ll be.
“The main challenge is the quality of the opponent,” the Liverpool Echo quotes Klopp as saying.
“I mean, you think about how Tottenham wins the games, of course they have a brilliant football team.
“But the way they set it up with the five and then offensively and defensively with the four and one, or with the two and three.
“Up front, (they have) speed like crazy – Harry Kane, what a player, and obviously fits in that idea extremely well.
“There’s a blind understanding between them, so I’d say it’s probably the biggest challenge for protection we face for a long time.”
Kane struggled at the start of the season amid uncertainty over his future, but he’s now in great form once again.
The England captain now has 23 goals and nine assists from 46 Spurs appearances in all competitions this term.
This includes 13 goals and eight assists in the Premier League.
