Michael Owen and Gary Lineker heap praise on Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold

The right-back opened the scoring in a 2-1 win over Chelsea yesterday.

Liverpool kept up their perfect Premier League record by defeating Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge yesterday afternoon.

The Reds secured the victory thanks to goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino; N’Golo Kante providing the consolation for Frank Lampard’s team.

Liverpool were cruelly denied their first Premier League crown last season when Manchester City pipped them to the post, despite Jurgen Klopp’s team winning 97 points.

This season the league title will surely be the number one priority for the Champions of Europe. On current form, you certainly wouldn’t back against them, although Manchester City remain in decent form too.

One man who earned rave reviews for his goalscoring display at Stamford Bridge was Alexander-Arnold. The right-back has been in fine form for the Reds so far this season, quickly becoming one of Europe’s best performers at right-back.

Ex-Liverpool player Michael Owen took to Twitter following an absolute thunderbolt by the 20-year-old:

The man with seven caps for England also caught the eye of the presenter and ex-Tottenham striker Gary Linker.

He believes that the youngster is getting better with each game:

Alexander-Arnold has made the right-back berth his own at Anfield, giving Liverpool quality options on both sides of the back four.

Klopp will be desperate to claim the Premier League title this season and the fact that goals are being contributed from players all over the pitch will delight the boss.

Whilst praise is always nice it is important that Alexander-Arnold stays grounded and continues to develop with each passing game. If he can do that he looks like having a great career with club and country.
