Report: Liverpool set to beat Tottenham to signing of ‘elite’ player in record breaking transfer
Liverpool are set to beat Tottenham and other clubs to the signing of Aberdeen defender, Calvin Ramsay, according to reports.
Sky Sports News have reported that the Reds are set to pay around £6m to bring Ramsay to Anfield. That fee would represent a club-record sale for the Scottish club, who are powerless to resist such figures coming their way.
Should Liverpool get a deal for Ramsay over the line, they’ll be beating Tottenham and Leeds to his signature. The teenager has attracted admiring glances from around England and Liverpool will feel they’re getting ahead of the game by landing Ramsay here.

Ramsay has been lauded as being an ‘elite’ talent in the past and a move away from the Dons was always likely. For Liverpool, landing one of Scottish football’s best talents will go down well with Jurgen Klopp. The Reds boss has recently signed a contract extension, and the addition of new young talent will show the club is keen to keep progressing.
The 18-year-old right-back will know he faces a huge task in competing with Trent Alexander-Arnold at Anfield. But he’ll also see how well fellow Scot Andy Robertson has done, and will be keen to impress.

This is another sign of Liverpool being such an attractive proposition for other players that they beat all the rest to big signings. Of course, this isn’t a ‘big’ signing in terms of money in the Premier League.
But it is a big signing in that Ramsay is one of Scotland’s best young players. £6m will be massive for Aberdeen as well, so Liverpool know they’re getting a player here.
Should the Reds continue to be so quick in the market, other Premier League teams will be green with envy.
