Max Woltman has posted on Instagram after he put pen to paper on his first professional terms with Liverpool having impressed for the club’s Under-18 side this season – underlining his delight to have signed a contract.
The 17-year-old has been excellent during 2020-21 – making himself a regular in the club’s Under-18 side after breaking into the team last season. He has made 12 Under-18 Premier League appearances this season.
Offering plenty of versatility, Woltman has played on the right wing, the left wing, in the number 10 role and slightly deeper as a central midfielder. Despite that, he has scored two goals and created three more.
One of those goals came in a 4-0 win over Everton’s youngsters away from home at Finch Farm. The midfielder has made it impossible for Liverpool not to give him a professional contract, and the club’s website confirmed as much.
TBR’s view – What next for Woltman?
The midfielder needs to continue impressing for the Under-18 side and hope that his improving form earns him a chance in the Under-23 team. There is certainly a good chance of that over the next few months.
Should he get into the 23’s at just 17, then Jurgen Klopp will surely be keeping an eye. Perhaps the aim for 2021 is to become a 23’s regular and train with the first team – but he has plenty of competition ahead of him.
