Reported Liverpool target Mohammed Kudus has come out and claimed that he was interested in joining the Reds’ fierce Merseyside rivals Everton in the summer.
The versatile 22-year-old Ghanaian has had a solid start to the season at Ajax. He has scored 10 times already this campaign, averaging a goal every 99 minutes in all competitions (Transfermarkt). That is a better return than Liverpool star Mo Salah, who averages a goal every 158 minutes this term.

Liverpool target Mohammed Kudus admits he wanted to join Everton
Kudus has really impressed this season – not just in the Eredivisie but also in the Champions League.
The Ghanaian, branded as a ‘devastating’ finisher by Chris Sutton, has been linked with a whole host of clubs ahead of the transfer windows in 2023.
Liverpool seem like the main suitors, but a report revealed last month that Tottenham want to sign him in the January transfer window as well.
However, Kudus has now come out and admitted that he was very keen to join Everton when they tried to sign him last summer.
He told The Guardian: “I thought [Everton] was a good project for me and why not?
“It’s not like it’s my first season at Ajax, it’s my third. So, if I’m not seeing the progress I’m looking for then why not try something else?”
Kudus’ current contract at Ajax expires in the summer of 2025.

There are few things in the world that Liverpool fans enjoy more than getting the better of their fierce Merseyside rivals, Everton.
By Kudus’ own admission, it looks like the Toffees were very close to signing him last summer, but Ajax stood firm and kept hold of their star man.
In January, just six months after Everton failed, Liverpool could snap him up. The Reds already know how good he is having seen him score past Alisson in the Champions League this season.
He would be an interesting signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side, but Everton fans will certainly be left gutted if that move goes through and he becomes a hit at Anfield.
