Liverpool are reportedly eyeing creative midfielder Houssem Aouar from Ligue 1 club Lyon.

According to RMC Sport, the Merseyside club and Chelsea are both monitoring the Frenchman following a string of impressive displays this season.

The 20-year-old playmaker has scored five times already in the French top flight this campaign, while he’s made an impact in the Champions League too with three assists under his belt.

He is a technically gifted ace that can play anywhere across the midfield and is the latest rising star to come out of the highly successful Lyon academy.

The France Under-21 internatonal is the type of player missing from the ranks at Anfield right now and Liverpool interest makes perfect sense.

Jurgen Klopp’s side find themselves firmly in the Premier League title race, but still need someone who can unlock the door from midfield at times and never fully replaced Phillips Coutinho.

Aouar is an upcoming star that would be perfect for Klopp to help mentor and a switch to the Reds could help him take his game up another level.

But his long-term future is tied down at Lyon until 2023 and it looks like it would take a considerable move to prize him away.
