Reported Liverpool transfer target Diego Carlos has been discussing his future amid continued reports linking the Brazilian with a move to Anfield or to Catalan giants Barcelona.
Speaking to Onda Cero, more specifically regarding the apparent interest from the Nou Camp, Carlos made it clear he was not currently thinking about his future.
The defender made it clear that currently, amid the global health crisis, it was the last thing on his mind.
“I don’t know if Barcelona loves me, there are many things that appear in the press. Now I just think about finishing the competition as well as possible and leaving these things for later. These are very serious things for me but we are in a very complicated situation and it is better to leave that until later.”
Liverpool’s interest was first reported by ABC in Spain. They claimed the Brazilian defender is considered a potentially ‘perfect’ partner for Virgil van Dijk in defence. It was suggested Liverpool’s concerns over Joel Matip and Joe Gomez’s injury records, along with the potential summer departure of Dejan Lovren, made Carlos a potential transfer target.

The defender carries a €75 million release clause (£65m), but Liverpool would be hoping to secure him for much less.
How serious Liverpool’s interest was before the recent crisis remains to be seen but the general consensus is that the Reds’ sole transfer target for the summer is set to be Timo Werner, with any other deals unlikely to be on the financial scale that will be necessary to lure Carlos from the Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
Right now, it seems that Carlos is not ready to even start considering a move away from Sevilla, amid the current global situation. So Liverpool will have to put any potential transfer interest on ice for the foreseeable future.
