Liverpool supporters react to reports they could go after Leeds star Kalvin Phillips

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur could be set for a £50million tug of war next summer as both clubs reportedly target Leeds United and England midfielder Kalvin Phillips – and Reds supporters have responded on Twitter.

Phillips, 24, has enjoyed a huge rise in fortunes since the arrival of Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road in 2018. Beforehand, his future at Leeds was in doubt with some supporters calling for his exit – but Bielsa has turned him into one of England’s best.

Two seasons in the Championship as a number four, when he was previously a 10, has earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s England side. He has since picked up four caps, and starred in Leeds’ impressive start to Premier League football.

The Mirror claim that his burgeoning reputation has not gone unnoticed by the Premier League’s biggest sides. They claim both Liverpool and Tottenham are interested in raiding Leeds for Phillips – with a fee of £50million touted.

Liverpool could do with cover for Fabinho in the holding-midfield role, while Spurs may need someone to go alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Moussa Sissoko was poor against West Ham, while Harry Winks has been in and out of the Spurs side.

Liverpool supporters reacted on Twitter to the reported news that both themselves and Tottenham are interested in Phillips, and many Reds fans are desperate for their club to bring the Leeds man to Anfield next summer.
