Luis Suarez has told LFCTV – as per the Echo – of his delight at seeing Liverpool finally end their hunt for the Premier League title, and Reds fans have reacted on Twitter to the Barcelona star’s comments.
Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Manchester City on Thursday night saw Liverpool finally cross over the line and hold aloft the Premier League trophy. With seven games to go, Jurgen Klopp’s side are 23 points clear of Pep Guardiola’s team.
Celebrations lasted long into the night, as fans crowded outside of Anfield to enjoy their club’s first title in 30 years. Videos have emerged on social media of the players also celebrating in the early hours of the morning.
Liverpool icon Suarez – who scored 82 goals in 133 games for Liverpool as well as creating 47 more – spoke of his delight to the club’s official channel and congratulated former teammate and captain Jordan Henderson.

“Jordan and all the other Liverpool players – I am so happy for you and your family, and for the people working in Liverpool and the Liverpool fans,” Suarez said.
“I hope you enjoy this time because it’s amazing for the Liverpool supporters. You are the champions.”
Suarez, 33, is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Barcelona, where he has remained since swapping Liverpool for the Spanish champions. He has had a hand in 300 goals during his 274 outings.
Scoring 191, he has also laid on 109 assists and following on from his comments, Liverpool fans urged him to come back to Merseyside pre-retirement as he enters the final stages of his current contract.
