Liverpool supporters react as club reportedly eye Houssem Aouar

Liverpool have reportedly added Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar to their summer shortlist as Jurgen Klopp looks for a midfielder to replace Gini Wijnaldum, who is expected to depart – and Reds fans are desperate to see him signed.

Wijnaldum, 30, is set to see his contract expire at the end of June and the Netherlands international is already allowed to talk to non-English clubs over a summer move on a pre-contract agreement. Inter Milan and Barcelona are strongly linked.

So, he needs replacing. Florian Neuhaus – the Germany international shining at Borussia Monchengladbach – has been linked, as had Brighton’s Yves Bissouma. Goal claim both players are on a three-man shortlist, as is Lyon ace Aouar.

The one-time France international has been sensational at Lyon – clocking up 161 appearances already despite being just 22 years of age. In that time, he has clocked up 60 goal involvements, scoring 30 and creating 30 for the French side.

Arsenal tried repeatedly to sign Aouar last summer, even tabling a £30million offer – as per ESPN. However, they failed to meet Lyon’s asking price, even though the French club reduced their asking price from £52million to £35million.

Now, Liverpool supporters have reacted to the news that their club are interested in signing Aouar – and many think he would be the ideal addition to Klopp’s midfield, with Wijnaldum set to depart.
