Liverpool are reportedly battling Arsenal for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma ahead of the January transfer window with both clubs looking at midfield reinforcements – and Liverpool supporters are desperate for their club to beat the Gunners.

Bissouma, 24, is a regular for Brighton and has starred for the Seagulls in his 66 appearances for Graham Potter’s men – since swapping French side Lille for the south coast of England. Hard-tackling, he is also excellent on the ball.

This season, he has taken his form to a new level. He scored a screamer against Everton during a 4-2 defeat, while his passing and ability to control the tempo of play is also impressive. TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook claims that has not gone unnoticed.

The report claims Liverpool are looking to replace Gini Wijnaldum who is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season – while Arsenal may look for another midfielder to bring in some creativity from the middle of the park.

It remains to be seen how much Brighton would want for Bissouma, given the Mali international still has three years left on his contract and is only 24 years of age. Certainly, it is likely to be a much bigger figure than the £15million (Mail) paid for him.

Liverpool supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Bissouma is a target for the club – and many have urged Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards to beat the Gunners to Bissouma’s signature.
