Liverpool got the win against Napoli they needed last night to ensure they made it through to the last 16 of this season’s Champions League.
Mo Salah’s mazy first half strike was the difference between the sides in the 1-0 victory, although Jurgen Klopp’s side were also deeply indebted to goalkeeper Alisson for a stoppage time save which preserved their lead.
The Italian side were expected to offer a potent counter-attacking threat on a night when the Reds knew they needed to attack, but they barely laid a glove on their hosts until that late chance fell to Arkadiusz Milik.
In defence, Kalidou Koulibaly was supposed to marshal a watertight defence, but his attempts to stop Salah embarrassing David Ospina at his near post were pitful.

But that does not matter to a Liverpool side who dominated throughout and got the kind of 1-0 result their helter-skelter approach last season would likely not have yielded; but they are a more solid unit this time around.
After a slow start to the season, Salah’s attacking edge has returned in recent weeks and as you might expect, Reds fans absolutely loved it…
